TI 810 - Product Specifications

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
FAQ01 What type of paper and how many parts can my TI 810 printer handle?
The TI 810 printer uses continuous-form paper with standard feed perforations on each edge. Paper widths from 7.62 to 38.1 centimeters (3 to 15 inches) can be accommodated.

Using either the rear chute or bottom chute, one original and up to five copies can be printed on paper with the following weight specifications:

  • Single Part Forms: 15 to 20 pound.
  • Multiple Part Forms:
    • Original: 12 to 15 pound
    • Copies: 9 to 12 pound, last copy 15 pound
  • Carbon Paper: 7 ½ pound with medium hardness.

Card stock up to 0.1778 millimeter (0.007 inch) thickness can be used as single part or last copy when using the bottom chute, only. Total form thickness should not exceed 0.533 millimeter (0.021 inch). For more information, see TI 810 specifications.

FAQ02 How can I Adjust the printhead for a better print quality?
The printhead adjust lever controls the clearance between the platen and the printhead. The thickness of the forms used dictates how much the clearance must be adjusted.

With the power on, adjust the printhead for optimum print quality as follows:

  • Open the access door.
  • Move the printhead adjust lever slightly to the right and toward front of printer.
  • Ensure that ribbon and paper are installed.
  • Ensure that pencil switches are not set for parallel operation.
  • The printhead adjustment can be made while the printer is on line and data is being printed, or while the self-test rotating character pattern (barber pole) is being printed
  • If barber pole method is used, set auxiliary control panel [Normal/Test/VFC] switch to Test/VFC
  • Press control panel [Online] switch to start printing
  • Move printhead adjust lever toward back of printer until print quality is satisfactory.
  • If smudging occurs, printhead is too close and must be backed off.
  • Move printhead adjust lever until nearest detent is engaged.
  • When barber pole test method has been used, set auxiliary control panel [Normal/Test/VFC] switch to [Normal]
  • If applicable, return pencil switches on auxiliary control panel to previous position.
  • Close access door.

FAQ03 The Paper Out indicator lights, the bell beeps 5 times, and the printer stops printing. Why did the printer do this? How can I fix it?
Your printer ran out of paper. When the [Paper Out] indicator is on, a line will be printed each time the [Reset] switch is pressed.

Press the [Reset] switch as often as required to complete the form, then load new forms in the printer. After the new forms have been loaded, press the [Reset] switch to resume printing.

FAQ04 The Error indicator blinks, the bell beeps five times, and the printer stops printing. Why did the printer do this? How can I fix it?
It seems a paper jam or other obstruction blocked the printhead movement.
Remove the paper jam or other obstruction and then press the [Reset] switch to resume printing.

FAQ05 Error indicator lights steady and special parity error symbols are printed. Why is that? Is there something I can do to fix it?
The printer is experiencing a parity error. The bit count of the character was wrong. Press the [Reset] switch to turn the [Error] indicator off. Correct the portions of the data that contain the parity error symbols.

If parity errors occur frequently, have the communications line checked for excessive electrical noise.

If parity errors occur continuously, check that correct printer parity is selected. Refer to your user manual for further assistance.
