The IER 508 is a compact, lightweight and highly flexible thermal document and tag dispenser designed to maximize the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of bag tag or flight strip production in airport or ATC environments. Designed specifically for ruggedized operation in heavy use conditions, the IER 508 puts a special emphasis on user friendliness and reduced operating costs. The use of IER's advanced electronics architecture helps streamline the product design and improve its MTBF.	The IER 508, fully compatible at the application level with the IER 512, has a small footprint that allows it to be integrated into tight spaces in airport counters. An automatic platen cleaning feature helps eliminate problems due to dust and other debris. The life time of the rugged print head is now typically up to 40,000 bag tags with appropriate paper consumables and suitable preventive maintenance.
Print Features and Paper Management
Self-centering paper path and single hand paper loading without raising the printhead enable continuous and effortless operations with high tag throughput. The total cost of ownership of the IER 508 has been further optimized by the use of industry standard subassemblies (e.g. power supply and low cost rugged thermal print head). Implementing advanced print quality control through IER's proprietary electronics architecture enables production of outstanding quality bar codes and graphics at up to 5 ips, regardless of label complexity, using a low cost thermal printhead with increased durability. Innovative self-diagnostics enable optimized performance and sustained print quality without user intervention. Service and maintenance time is significantly reduced due to the fully accessible design to both electronic and mechanical sub-assemblies, including easy thermal print head replacement with no adjustment.
